Northern Folk with
Southern Feel
Missives from the studio
May 27th 2026
I just returned from my family’s fishing lodge, a place so near and dear to my heart where I spent all my summers since age 6. I did my favourite thing, which is riding through the walking trails, chainsaw in tow, to clear all of the deadfall from the paths. There’s something magical about being so deep in the wilderness and working hard to the tune of the chickadees and woodpeckers. An annual reset!
I’m back in Winnipeg now, continuing work on my record and writing with friends. I’m looking forward to a summer of performances in Ontario, Minnesota, British-Columbia and Manitoba, and perhaps a few good canoe trips if I can get them in. I’m getting very excited to share the new music I’ve been working on. The next chapter is near!
Much love to all and wishing you a beautiful season
If you’d like to hear a live performance I recorded in KRVS’ Cypress Lake Studio last fall, it’s been featured by NPR on World Cafe. You can hear it here:
